Native Creatives is a blogspace dedicated to showcasing and promoting young, local designers of all genres who are making their marks here in Hawaii.
The idea for Native Creatives came to me as I found myself interested in pursuing a career in graphic design last year, but doubted that I could do so successfully, 1) because I didn't know my own talents and ability, and 2) because so many people advised me that I had to move to the mainland if I really wanted to make it big. Yet, in talking with my friends (and even some friendly acquaintances) who do design here locally, I found so much inspiration, not only in their words of encouragement, but also in their successes, whether it was in the form of an exciting project, a new business venture, or a meaningful volunteer effort.
That being said, it is also the hope of Native Creatives that by showcasing Hawaii's design talent, other up-and-coming designers feel that they too can find success here in our islands. Native Creatives also strives to create and foster a network of Hawaii designers by connecting the people featured on the blog with each other, as well as with interested readers.
